Help Keep Pets Alive: Support Community Dog Wash at Eagleview

EXTON, PA — April 22, 2009 — On Saturday, June 6, Balance Hair Spa will be hosting a community fundraising dog wash, raffle and silent auction from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Eagleview Town Center, Exton, PA. Dog wash volunteers will bathe each dog with luxury pet products from the John Paul Pet line. Suggested donations per wash are $10 to $20, and 100% of the money raised will be going to help fund Pets Alive, a no-kill animal shelter.

As a nation, we love our cats and dogs. Millions of households have pets, and billions of dollars are spent yearly on pet supplies and food. But we should take a hard, sobering look at a different annual statistic: the millions of dogs and cats given up to shelters or left to die on the streets. And the numbers tell only half the story.

Every cat or dog who dies as a result of pet overpopulation — whether humanely in a shelter or by injury, disease or neglect — is an animal who, more often than not, would have made a wonderful companion, if given the chance.

Tremendous as the problem of pet overpopulation is, it can be solved if each of us takes just one small step, starting with not allowing our animals to breed. Another step you can do to help this cause is to help support shelters like Pets Alive and adopt your next pet from a shelter.

Pets Alive, a no-kill animal shelterPets Alive is a no-kill animal shelter, located in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains. Its mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and place animals in need. Many are victims of neglect, abuse and violence. Frequently, these animals have special needs and have been rejected by other organizations. Animals at the sanctuary range from dogs and cats to farm animals, exotic birds and others. Many of the animals at Pets Alive are older or require special care.

Animal lovers unite and join us for this community dog wash on Saturday, June 6, at Eagleview Town Center. Bring your dogs to support this important cause. Please also remember clean towels for drying your dogs after the wash.
